Lower Broad Street & Lincoln Park: Saturday, May 13th

Come see the sights of Lower Broad Street and Lincoln Park with Newarkology! See the Four Corners, Newark's greatest skyscrapers, City Hall, the old Mosque Theater, the site of America's first industrial exposition, the elegant mansions of Lincoln Park, and Lincoln Park's fine statues. See the old "Coast," Newark's old jazz area, see the site of the Coleman Hotel, Newark's best black owned hotel. Learn about the new directions Newark is heading in, as we see the new Devils' arena rise and visit the proposed site of the Smithsonian Museum of African-American Music.

The first Newarkology tour will officially commence at 11:15, at the Southeast corner of Broad and Market (three blocks from Penn Station). Contact me at jsbennett70@yahoo.com (delete the "REMOVETHIS," from the email address) for additional information. The tour will last approximately two hours and will cost $10. The distance from Broad and Market to Lincoln Park is one mile.

There is abundant free parking available. Lincoln Park itself has lots of spots, and so do the side streets off Broad. The meeting place is near the Essex County Courts complex and the Prudential Building, so the parking lots for those sites would work for this tour too. The meeting place is near Penn Station, so people taking public transit should have no problem making the tour.

You need not RSVP, but you can contact me if you have more questions.
